Shortbread – The Best

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch

Method

  1. Cream together sugar, butter and vanilla in a large bowl (Fern does in her mix master.)
  2. Mix dry ingredients together in a separate bowl.
  3. Slowly mix dry ingredients with other ingredients.
  4. Knead a bit.
  5. Roll out to 1/4" thick (NO thinner) or put it in balls.
  6. Bake at 350°F oven for about 12 minutes. If in balls or if you used a large cookie cutter, bake 14 minutes.
