
Mock Duck

Scott says, “where does the duck come in?” It doesn’t. It pretends to be duck.
Ingredients
- 1round steak
- 2cupsbread crumbs
- 2tsponion(chopped)
- 1tspsalt
- 1tspsage
- 1/2tsppepper
- 1canmushrooms, drained(reserve liquid)
- 1tspbutter(+ 2 Tbsp more)
- 1cupboiling water
Method
- Heat mushrooms and moisten with butter.
- Pound the round steak until it’s 1/2″ thick.
- Mix mushrooms and remaining ingredients together as you would for turkey stuffing and use as much reserved mushroom liquid to moisten the stuffing as needed.
- Lay the steak out flat and pile the stuffing on, flattening to cover 2/3 of the surface.
- Roll up the meat over the stuffing and secure with string or skewers.
- Place in roasting pan with water and 2 Tbsp of butter.
- Bake at 325°F for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
Recipe Notes
Good meal to break out the meat mallet and get out your frustrations. Round steak is one of the old, cheap favorites because if you tenderize and slow cook it, it’s amazing. This makes it seem all fancy pants!
