Shopping List Template
Heading to the grocery store with a plan is a primary way to save money on your groceries and stay within your budget.Simple habits, a little prep and organization will help you to save money on your grocery costs. Use the template below in two different ways to help you save.1 - use this list as a master list - create a binder with 20-30 of your favorite recipes and organize them into weekly meal plans. Take care to organize them so they make use of leftovers for lunches and you'll only need 4-5 recipes per week. Think about what you'll have for side dishes to go with the main entrees. Then, use the template to complete a list of everything you'll need on hand for the week to create those meals.2 - use a copy of the template to create a mini shopping list, organized by department, and write down the things you don't have on hand from the master list. Take it with you to the grocery store to keep you on track and prevent you from wandering aimlessly around the store and avoid those impulse purchases. There's a space at the top for the week number and space at the bottom to write how much you spent that week on groceries. Tracking will help you be aware of pricing and spending.Add in the habit of using a flyer app such as Flipp to take a look at sale prices on items you need for the week or want to stock up your pantry with. Most grocery stores price match, so all you need to do is show them the competitor item sale price (with the exact brand and package size match) and they will provide discounts at the checkout. You can download the shopping list template below:
